Statement Issued by the Ministry of Telecommunications and Information Technology Regarding the Saudi Aggression’s Targeting of Telecommunications Installations and Facilities in the Republic of Yemen

The Ministry of Telecommunications and Information Technology condemns, in the strongest terms, the persistent and deliberate targeting-by the Saudi-led coalition’s air forces-of telecommunications stations, towers, networks, installations, and facilities across the various governorates of the Republic of Yemen. The Ministry asserts that these brutal assaults are causing the systematic destruction of infrastructure and resulting in civilian casualties, while also depriving citizens of essential services that are directly linked to their lives, safety, and daily livelihoods.

Airstrikes during the recent escalation-spanning from the first week of last August to the present-have resulted in 902 telecommunications sites and stations were stopped and going out of service.

These recurring crimes are an extension of a campaign of criminal targeting and systematic destruction waged by the Saudi adversary against the telecommunications and postal sector for over 11 years. By the end of 2025, the sector had been subjected to more than 2,764 airstrikes, which resulted in the martyrdom of 80 qualified staff members and the total or partial destruction of over 1,104 facilities—depriving our dear people of telecommunications services across most regions of the Republic of Yemen.

The Ministry reaffirms that the telecommunications sector is a purely civilian service sector, providing services to all citizens across the Republic without exception or discrimination. Its facilities serve families, hospitals, educational institutions, humanitarian and relief teams, and economic activities; they also constitute a vital means for seeking assistance and maintaining human contact, particularly amidst the conditions of war and blockade.

In this context, the Ministry asserts that these false allegations-made by the Saudi adversary and its affiliated entities-are merely pretexts and justifications intended to target this vital service sector and isolate the Yemeni people from the rest of the world, thereby paving the way for the commission of further crimes and inhumane violations, away from the public eye.

The Ministry asserts that these attacks clearly expose the criminal conduct of the malevolent Saudi enemy-who seeks to destroy the foundations of life in Yemen in order to commit humanitarian crimes-amidst a shameful silence from the international community and all its organizations, including the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).

Accordingly: The Ministry of Telecommunications and Information Technology warns the Saudi adversary against targeting telecommunications networks and holds responsible for the consequences and repercussions of any such targeting of the telecommunication’s sector, its facilities, and its infrastructure, as well as for any resulting outcomes.

The Ministry affirms that, despite the scale of the destruction, these attacks will neither break the will of the Yemeni people nor deter the sector’s personnel from fulfilling their national and humanitarian duties. The work of reconstruction, restoration, and resuming operations will remain a testament to resilience and steadfastness, and the provision of services to citizens-upholding their fundamental right to communication-will continue to be an unwavering commitment.
